What is Gun Drilling?
Gun drilling is a specialized machining process used to create smaller holes than what can traditionally be achieved through a BTA-style drilling or trepanning process.. It involves using a long, thin cutting tool with a fixed carbide or inserted cutting edge at the front, called a flute.. The cutting tool is cooled by feeding oil to aid in chip evacuation and cooling of the cutting edge, allowing for high-speed and efficient drilling of holes with precise dimensions.
